The Terry Fox Postdoctoral Fellowship supported by the NBHRF and TFRI

The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) and the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) are pleased to offer the following opportunities:

THE TERRY FOX POSTDOCTORAL FELLOWSHIP SUPPORTED BY THE NBHRF AND TFRI

One postdoctoral fellowship of $36,750 for 2 years plus a $1,500 per year travel allowance is offered to qualified researchers who are undertaking full-time postdoctoral cancer research in the Province of New Brunswick.

Eligibility 
To be eligible, the applicant:

  • Must be undertaking biomedical or clinical research to advance understanding of cancer biology, or cancer diagnosis and treatment;
  • Must have completed, or will complete, a doctoral scientific or clinical degree, by the time the award is taken up;
  • Must be sponsored by a university faculty member in New Brunswick; and
  • Must not simultaneously hold a university faculty appointment or equivalent, or any major award for salary purposes. 

Application Process
The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) and the Terry Fox Research Institute (TFRI) are working with the Manitoba Health Research Council (MHRC) to offer these Terry Fox Postdoctoral Fellowships supported by NBHRF and TFRI.  The MHRC has kindly agreed to accept applications via its electronic Grant Management System, and will provide peer review of applications.  The NBHRF/TFRI will make awards to the top-ranked applicant and will work with institutions in New Brunswick to administer awards.

The checklist below outlines the steps that must be completed for your electronic application to be accepted for consideration for a 2012 Terry Fox Postdoctoral Fellowship supported by the NBHRF and TFRI award.

Complete & Submit online eGMS Application (Manitoba)
Submit Common CV as part of online Electronic Grants Management System (eGMS) Application 
Ensure Hard Copy of Transcripts are sent to MHRC Office 
Arrange for 3 supporting letters to be sent to MHRC office
 Application documentation can be accepted in English only.
  
 For the 2012 Terry Fox Postdoctoral Fellowship Award applicants are to advise NBHRF by email at: grants@nbhrf.com of submission of their application, and attach to the email the documentation submitted with the eGMS application. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

1. Before You Begin 

Before beginning an application, NBHRF and TFRI strongly advise applicants to download and review the following document and have it on-hand while completing the application eForm:

 2. Other Preparations 

  1. Create an eGMS system account (Manitoba). Follow link below.
  2. Acquire Supervisor and Department Head MHRC eGMS system accounts.
  3. Create a Common CV. Visit the Canadian Common CV web site.  
     
    You must first create your MHRC eGMS Account.
    You are required to enter your Agency PIN on your CCV in order to link your CCV to MHRC eGMS. Your Agency PIN for the CCV is the same as your MHRC eGMS Account Email (the email address you use to login to the MHRC Electronic Grants Management System).  For further information please consult section 2 "The Common CV" of the
    2012 MHRC eGMS User Guide for Trainees.    

  4. Acquire your Grade Point Average (GPA): this information is required on the online application form; you will need this information before your application can be submitted.
Please also ensure that you have:
IE 6.0 (or higher) or FireFox1.5 (or higher) installed on your computer (Safari is not supported)
PDF conversion software, to create all requested attachments. 

 

 
 

 3. Allow Sufficient Time for Approvals

The Electronic Grants Management System requires applications to have both Sponsor and Department Head sign off. Therefore, IT IS VITAL THAT APPLICANTS COMPLETE ALL SECTIONS OF YOUR APPLICATION AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE, TO ALLOW SUFFICIENT TIME FOR SUPERVISOR(S) AND DEPARTMENT HEAD TO REVIEW AND CONSENT TO YOUR APPLICATION, BEFORE YOU ARE ABLE TO SUBMIT IT TO THE MHRC.

The following deadlines apply to the 2012 competition:

  • February 1 - Submitted Application (eForm, attachments & applicant Common CV) with Supervisor Common CV/Approval and Department Head Approval.  Email advice and submitted documentation to NBHRF.
  • February 15 - Transcripts and Letters of Support (courier or mail to the MHRC office).

 Application documentation can be accepted in English only.  

NBHRF, TFRI, or MHRC are not responsible for applications that are not received at MHRC by the application deadline due to delays.

Please note that the notification letters will be issued by the New Brunswick Health Research Foundation.
