Requirements Guide

The New Brunswick Health Research Foundation (NBHRF) and AGEWELL NCE are pleased to offer the following opportunity:


Masters’ awards of $17,500 for 1 year, non-renewable,  Doctoral awards of $25,000 per year for two years, renewable for 1 year, Postdoctoral awards of $40,000 per year for 1 year, renewable for 1 year, and Postdoctoral (PharmD) awards of $56,000 per year for 1 year, renewable for 1 year, are offered to qualified researchers who are undertaking research in areas related to Technology and Aging in the Province of New Brunswick.


To be eligible, the applicant:

  • Must be working towards a Masters, PhD or related degrees pertaining to research aligned with the mission and vision of AGEWELL at a New Brunswick institution

  • Must be responsible to an appropriate supervisor at a New Brunswick institution who is in a field relevant to Aging  

  • Must meet all eligibility criteria of the AGWELL Graduate Student and Postdoctoral Awards

Candidates must apply to the AGEWELL training awards competition. Candidates must also notify NBHRF of their AGWELL application by email and attach to it all documents and materials submitted to the AGWELL competition. NBHRF/AGEWELL will make awards to the top-ranked applicants and will work with institutions in New Brunswick to administer awards.

1. Complete the AGWELL application via the AGWELL website    Deadline each year is normally June 1st.

2.  NBHRF Requirements and Common CV

  • The AGWELL Graduate Student and Postdoctoral applicants are to advise NBHRF by email at of submission of their application, and attach to the email the documentation submitted with the AGEWELL application

  • A completed Common CV must be created (and/or updated) in the Canadian Common CV system using the template entitled "NBHRF Template" for the applicant as part of the NBHRF/AGEWELL studentship award application process. Using the CV Funding option, select Funding Source NBHRF, and then select CV Type NBHRF Template.   This is the version that must be sent to NBHRF by email.   Please note that a “Draft” CCV will not be accepted as part of your application.  


The peer review process of AGWELL NCE will be utilized to assess the merit of applications submitted to the program.  Notification letters will be issued by AGEWELL.

Final Report

Grant Recipients are required to submit a Final Report within 90 days of the project end date by completing the NBHRF final report form found by logging into your NBHRF account.   

If the project has been funded by a national agency, a copy of the agency's final report must also be included with the final report submission. Also please submit the financial statement for this account from your institution’s financial services department.  It must be uploaded as an attachment using the “Browse” button on the form.
