NBHRF Welcomes New CEO

We are extremely pleased to announce that Peter Brenders, MBA, HBSc, has joined NBHRF as our new CEO. We look forward to his leadership to help us design and implement an expansion strategy related to the funding of health research activities in the Province of New Brunswick.  

Early in his career, Peter worked in the Ontario Ministry of Health and in the health consulting practice at KPMG.   Since then he has moved on to roles as:

  • the Founder and Managing Director of the specialist management services company TO4 Group Inc. that providing support for start-up and established companies as in the life sciences sector

  • the Founder, President & CEO of Kontollo Health Inc., a US-based telehealth company working on a solution for campus mental health

  • the founding CEO of Inagene Diagnostics whose mission is to harness the power of genetic testing and personalized medicine to help people feel better, sooner.

  • Canadian General Manager at Sanofi Genzyme where he grew the business from $40 to over $250 million.

  • President and CEO of BIOTECanada

 

He was inducted into the Canadian Healthcare Marketing Hall of Fame in 2016 for his leadership in Canada’s healthcare system. Peter serves on the advisory boards of the clinical research unit of the Montreal Neurological Institute, mitoNET, and the Professional Advisory Council for the MMASc of Western University. He has been a member of the board of directors of VIDO-InterVac, Research Canada, and The Cameron Institute. He has also served as a member of the Life Sciences Advisory Group of Global Affairs Canada, the federal Department of Foreign Affairs Trade and Development's Life Sciences Advisory Group, the Advisory Board for the National Research Council's (NRC) Institute for Nutrisciences and Health, and was an Industry Advisor for the Atlantic Canada Opportunity Agency's Atlantic Innovation Fund Committees for Aquaculture and Biotechnology Sector and Health and Medical Sector.

Peter has executive education from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, the Harvard Business School, McGill University and Queen’s. He received his MBA in Health Services Management from McMaster University. Prior to his brief work in basic research at the Robarts Research Institute, he received his Honours BSc in Pharmacology and Toxicology from the University of Western Ontario.
